Newsy News!

I am going to do reviews again. Soon. Next Week, hopefully:

My plans are to review Sherlock Season 3, first.

Then I'm going to review three Supernatural episodes form Season 9:
  • 'Bloodlines" (to discuss how the pilot ultimately failed)
  • "I'm No Angel" (because I need to rip that abomination to shreds myself)
  • "Blade Runners" (I need to squee about this... So much)
As for those reviews of Marvel movies, I'll get to them when I get to them.

Same for the Supernatural recaps. Just not feeling them right now.

And I hope to start reviewing Hannibal episodes after Christmas, since hopefully I'll have the Season 2 DVD by then. Then I may review other shows. (If it's over 13-ish episodes a season, the review will be an overall, with maybe some episodes worth talking about getting individual reviews, if it's 13-ish or less, it'll be episode-by-episode most likely.

Also, I might do a thing talking about my impressions on Constantine. That show looks pretty promising.

Look What The Cat Dragged In!

Hey, I'm back! I've been busy this year, but I'm gonna try and remedy that! I have some reviews/plans.

  • A little thing about why I like Hannibal, and why the show is such a good one.
  • I am going to finish my Supernatural Recap/Retrospective/Review Things
  • I want to do a whole thing of the Top 9(?) Worst Things About Season 9 of Supernatural...
  • ...And a list of some of the  admittedly good things.
  • I'll review season 3 of Sherlock
  • I might possibly get around to reviewing X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (properly!), and X-Men: First Class
  • Heck, I might even review each episode of Hannibal, season 1! (It's about 12 or 13 episodes, I can manage it).
That's the plan. Best get on it.

Quick What I Plan To Do...

Hey. It's been a long time, hasn't it? Sorry, it's been crazy for a while, but I have some post ideas for the future...

-I'll finish my Supernatural season reviews. (well, 3-8...)

-I also have a little piece about my problems with the character Ezekiel in Supernatural.

-A review of the podcast Welcome To Night Vale.

-And of course, my yearly Thanksgiving Thank-You Notes...

So, yeah, that's the plan, hopefully...

AMERICA US SHERLOCK SEASON 3 DATE CONFIRMED!

Well, I at least have something to be happy about today, despite my displeasure with last night's Supernatural...

THE US RELEASE DATE FOR SHERLOCK SEASON THREE IS CONFIRMED! JANUARY 14TH, 2014!

I don't know when The UK gets it, but I know it's slightly before us (but luckily it's not obscenely early like last time. Maybe it'll be easier to avert spoilers...)

 ALL MY HAPPY GIFS, NOW!

...That is all...

ERMERGERSH! NEW SHERLOCK FOOTAGE!

Okay, so Sunday, the BBC released a promo for all their original dramas. And among them was Sherlock, and it featured some new footage!

Here it is...

  I can't resist a little analysis...

There's not much to say about the Sherlock footage. A good chunk of it is Sherlock in different places. There is a part where Sherlock is talking to John, mentioning how it's quote "you and me against the world" in what I believe is a Canon quote. Also, his beautiful perfect lip is split. Either John decked him for making him believe he was dead, or that's a result of the adventure...

But there's the part that's got me and the fangirls all excited:

CUMBERLOCK. ON A. FREAKING. MOTORCYCLE. HECK. YES...

Moffat and Gatiss (I'm more inclined to believe the later) are spoiling us. I'm not sure who's on the bike with Cumberlock though. The figure suggests a woman. Now, she's wearing a red jacket like I've seen Amanda Abington wearing in set pictures. So it most likely could be Mary Morstan. But I'm also kinda hoping it's Molly, because I ship it  I ship it so hard reasons... Or, it could be another woman me and the Cumbercollective will be jealously screaming "get off our man" to... ;P

But, whoever it is, IT'S BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH AS SHERLOCK ON A MOTORCYCLE! *swoon* All we need is him to wear glasses and I'll be completely satisfied fanservice-wise...

Anyway, that's all I gotta say. Can't wait for Season 3. I'm really excited for this one. And SAVE ME WITH "THE EMPTY HEARSE" GATISS!!! YOU'RE THE ONLY WRITER ON THE SHOW I CAN THOURGHLY RELY ON!!!! DX

2 Year Anniversary!

Yes, I've made it to two years of running this little blog of mine! Break out the Dancing Downeylock and Hawkeye Gifs!

So I thought I'd do a little something something. But the big thing I thought of doing I think I'll save for the 200th post. Instead, I think I'll do a little retrospective/news/stats/and a thank you. Okay? Okay!

I think this year I really settled into what I would do with the blog. I found out I like doing reviews, mainly. I still do other stuff (news and the occasional opinion things I usually regret posting hours later), but reviews have kinda become my main thing. And people seem to like them, so that's always good.

-I hit over 12,000 views as of this post! Yay! :D
-I got more followers! :D

-Not much has changed as far as my most popular posts, but apparently my Elementary reviews have gotten more views than my BBC Sherlock reviews... Why? (Though I did notice my "Great Game" review got a bizarrely high (for me) viewcount after a day...)

-January 2013 is when I've gotten my most views. (it was over a thousand!)

-Apparently, I still attract a lot of Russian readers... The thought of me being to Russians as David Hasslehoff is to Germans is a hilarious (albeit exaggerated) thought...

Anyway, some announcements (subject to change):

-I have an Elementary-related post planned for right after this post. (whether season 2 gets reviewed will be included in this)...

-My 200th Post is coming up, so there's that...

-Definitely more reviews (Season Three of Sherlock is coming up!)

-Also, I kinda had an experiment I wanted to try. I've wanted to do fanfic MSTs (heck, I've done two). So I think I'll do my own little spin on it and do MST-style reviews of some fanfics that happen to be "riffable", giving criticism where due (mostly constructive). Think Atop The Fourth Wall meets The Half World (link leads to his MST list)...) I found this one giggle-inducing Sherlock fanfic that I just felt had to be read to be believed...

  So, that's about it... Except...

Thank you to everyone who reads/has read this blog. It means a lot to me that you're interested in my opinions. And thanks for sticking with me, even when I go on long hiatuses like I have been...

  See ya next post...

*Beep Beep* Breaking Sherlock Season Three News!

WE HAVE A NEW VILLAIN CONFIRMED!

Yes, now that "Scottiarty" is dead (Moffat and Gatiss confirmed it at Comic Con, though I'm still a little skeptical (Rule #1 of Fandoms: The Writers Lie)) there's a open position for "Nemesis for Cumberlock" over on BBC's Sherlock. And now we got an applicant!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present: Charles Augustus Magnussen!

Yes, he's obviously supposed to be "Charles Augstus Milverton" (don't ask me why they changed the name), the antagonist from the short story he shares a name with in the canon. He was a blackmailer of women. The character recently (briefly) appeared in the Elementary episode "Dead Man's Switch" (you can see my review here). Yeah, I'll probably end up comparing the two when I inevitably review whatever episode he's in.

Interestingly, he played by Lars Mikkelsen. If you're not familiar with him (I'm not), than you may be familiar with his brother, Mads Mikkelsen. He (the brother) plays the titular character on Hannibal. (He was also in Casino Royale, but I only really care about the other role... ;P) *Ahem* Said it before and I'll say it again: Everything I Love Connects To Sherlock Holmes (Six Degrees of Sherlock Holmes) (It's only a matter of time, Supernatural.).

I'm excited. In Milverton's story, Sherlock is pushed into doing questionable things. It'll be interesting to see if the same happens here. I can't wait. And I'm sure Lars Mikkelsen will do fantastic as Charles Augustus Magnussen, the character will no doubt be another fantastic addition to the cast.

So long as he doesn't make Hugh Dancy cry, we're good! ;)

I'm Not Dead, Let's Start Blogging

Sorry I haven't blogged in weeks, and that Marvel May didn't quite work out like I hoped. I didn't realize all the stuff that was going to happen that month, I got sucked into Twitter, I wasn't in a reviewing mood after that Elementary review, and I'm just freaking lazy. It's my biggest fault.

Anyway, this is just a post to assure my followers I'm okay. (Hannibal gets a second season, how could I not be okay?) And I kinda wanted to state my plans:

-I feel bad about not at least finishing the X-Men reviews, so I'm going to finish those. (Plus, I have First Class now! So there's that...)
-I think I'll do a final overall review of Elementary just to vent out any residing thoughts...
-In the interest of expanding my horizons, I think I might start reviewing some fanfics and/or video games. (Or books...)
-I also wanna do an MST of this fanfic that is just... Not good... (with a twist).
-More reviews as they come up
-Website/Blog/Net Stuff Apreciations
-Also, I'm toying with the idea of doing a sort of "commentary" on that fanfic I did. It'll be like an MST of sorts...
-Other Stuff

...So sorry I've been quiet, I promise I'll try and get back to blogging!

A Brief Announcement

Well, it's May! And I'm excited! So many wonderful things: soon I'll be free of my Unbreakable Vow with myself and finish watching/reviewing Elementary, Iron Man 3 is out this month (and Star Trek: Into Darkness [note to self: WATCH THE FIRST MOVIE!]), and my birthday is on the 25th! (Fun fact: not only do I share a birthday with Sir Ian McKellen (awesome!) but it also falls on Towel Day AND Geek Pride Day.)

So, I decided to do something special this month. In addition to wrapping up the Elementary reviews, I'm going to review some of the Marvel movies. At least the ones I own (Netflix Instant View never ceases to amaze me with what it does and doesn't have…). *So that means I'll be covering:
-The X-Men Trilogy
-X-Men Origins: Wolverine (More in-depth than I did last time, anyway...)
And of course...
-The Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man 1&2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger (again, more in-depth), and The Avengers!

(*I may get some movies besides them, and I might get to review them, too. And, since I'm planning on seeing Iron Man 3 for my birthday, so that may get a review this month, too...)

So, I'm going to start this project this Saturday, hopefully. Hope this goes well! :D

Well, Since There Won't Be A New Elementary Tonight Or Next Week...

...I've decided to use this time for some spring three weeks into the new year cleaning! I have a bunch of post drafts here, and I figure I'd better finish them and put them out. So, here's some of what to expect (though I may change my mind on some of these):

  • Two MSTs of "trollfics" I have lying around
  • A sort of "series" I wanted to start on characters I feel are underutilized in various things
  • Something on the pros and cons of fandoms I happen to be a part of
  • More "for the lulz" theories regarding "The Reichenbach Fall"
  • A "Things I Would Pay And/Or Kill A Man To See" post
  • And possibly a list of my favorite things about Marvel's Cinematic Universe
...So that's what to expect, dearies. The first post of my new year clean-out (an MST) should be up really soon.

Judgement Day

Well, tonight's the night. It's all come down to this. After today, things will be settled once and for all...

...Elementary premieres tonight on CBS. Finally, I (and all the other Sherlockians/Holmesians) will know once and for all what this show will be like.

Will it be the horrific abomination most Sherlock fans believe it will be, and insult to the name Sherlock Holmes? Or will it be a surprise hit, and not as bad as we all thought? Or will it just be "meh", and eventually be forgotten in a couple years, never to be spoken of again unless it gets a cult following?

Well, guess we'll get our answers tonight. And for those uninterested in/not able to bring themselves to watch, I'm going to review it tomorrow.

...And I'm prepared for if it's bad, I already got the pitchfork and torch ready, I just need to know where the potential mob's meeting... ;)

So, that's what's happening. See you all tomorrow!

I Just Remembered What I Dislike About Award Shows...

So, last night I watched The Emmys. It was alright, not awesome. Anyway, I wait for two whole hours JUST to see if my boys Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (oh, and the other people who work on Sherlock, and the show itself) were going to win an award. I knew they were nominated, I just wanted to see if they'd win. And oh boy, was I disappointed.

...They totally mispronounced ALL their names when they won! ;)

*sigh* I wish that were so. No, none of the people nominated won. What the heck, Emmys? It didn't win anything last year, either. What, are you just prejudiced against Sherlock? Or are you just "nation-ist"? (Well, "nation-ist" against anything but Downton Abbey...) I mean, seriously! Seemed like everything but two of the winners were American stuff.

I don't exactly know how submission works for these things, and I don't know if they were only allowed to send in one episode due to length. But, seriously, what difference should that make? It may have movie-length episodes, but it's still a TV series. Personally, I thought they shouldn't have gone with "A Scandal in Belgravia". I mean, the episode was alright (not my personal favorite), but I think the other two were better. Like, say, "The Reichenbach Fall". THAT was a good episode, especially when it came to Cumberbatch and Freeman's acting. I knew what was coming, and they still managed to punch me in the emotional gut!

Seriously, I don't think it's fair that they lost in every category. I think they should have rated the series on a whole, not just one episode. I mean, there's an arc in the episodes. It just bugs me. Granted, I haven't seen the other shows that were nominated, but I'm not interested in them (like the whole "Sarah Palin" TV movie thing. I don't care about politics.). I dunno, I think they kinda got snubbed. And I feel bad they pretty much flew out there for nothing.

*sigh* Well, there goes the adorable picture of Chibi!Benedict and Chibi!Martin playing with their Emmys, while Chibi!Andrew Scott was sad he couldn't play Emmys with them, and Martin going over to him and saying "It's okay, we can play BAFTAs later..." And Benedict being all, "I heard that!"

...You know. And stuff. Wow, I have too much free time.

But I guess there's always the chance The Golden Globes will be  nice and give them a nomination this year (please). Though with my luck, they either won't be nominated or they won't win... (Boy, I'm optimistic, today!)

Well, despite what The Emmys thinks; Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat, and all you other guys who just make this show great, you're all winners to me. And if me and the fans had our way, we'd be taking all the awards and giving them to you all.

And I guess, in the end, that's all that really matters.

Not Going To Put It Off Anymore

Long ago (like, in March or April or something), I said I was going to write a Sherlock/Harry Potter "crossover" fanfic and post it here on my blog. Weeelll, I've sort of procrastinated on it. Like, a lot. But no more!

You see, I've been busy and haven't been posting. And, well, I've kind of been distract-Ohmahgosh, I'm having a Doctor Who marathon! Wheeeeeee!!!!!

...
...

Anyway, since I haven't been posting much, I want Skepkitty to be able review my fic (or MST it if it turns out to be bad enough, whatever, either's awesome) on The Half World, and I really have nothing else to do (CURSE YOU BBC AMERICA! AND YOUR BEING ON CABLE AIRING NEW DOCTOR WHO! I DON'T GET THAT TV NO MORE!!!! *insert hashtag phrase here*) I'm putting it up today and for the next... err... 15 days (16 chapters. Brace yourselves...)

So, that's what's going to happen. I'm going to also put up a page to direct people to the fic for easy access.

...Yeah, this post is just to cut down on an author's note. It's mostly pointless.

Expect the first chapter in a few minutes. This will either be my best work yet, or and epic fail. Oh well. Just get ready! :D

Brief Post: Sherlock Series Three Hint Words

So, on Twitter, Moffat and Gatiss revealed three "hint words" as to what to expect for Series 3 of Sherlock.

  "Rat".

 "Wedding."

And "Bow". (as in taking a bow)

I know the first episode will have to do with "The Empty House". I have NO idea what "rat" could be referring to.

As for the wedding, I have two theories: the obvious one is that they'll do The Sign of Four, the story that introduced Watson's wife, Mary Morstan.

But, I also thought of "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton". In that story, the aforementioned Milverton blackmailed women who were getting married. Plus, Sherlock (in order to get information on the blackmailer) gets engaged to a woman (which is never brought up again afterwards). That story could very well work. Those are the two stories that jump out at me for "wedding".

As for "bow", the only thing I can think of is "His Last Bow" (which I haven't read yet) but apparently it was the story where Sherlock Holmes retired from detective work (this being Doyle's second attempt to finish with Holmes. It worked as well as RIECHENBACH! *scare chord* *thunderclap* did). I'm suddenly scared they might end it here. But, they can always rearrange the order of stories. And, technically, His Last Bow was also the name of the collection the story was in, so it could be any of those seven.

And there's ALWAYS the theory that Moffat and Gatiss gave us some red herrings and are totally trolling the fanbase again. Moffat! *shakes fist*

Help me out here, guys. Anybody got any ideas? Especially for "rat"?

There Is Hope For It Yet: The Sea of Monsters

It's no secret that I disliked the movie adaptation of The Lightning Thief. It cut out important characters, changed events and plot details (like the fact they DIDN'T take Percy's mom out of The Underworld. Percy left without her because he didn't want to sacrifice his friends and knew it wasn't what his mom would want. Hades restored her as a reward for Percy when he got Hades's helm back.), wasn't much like the books, and just gave me the feeling Columbus and his crew just skimmed the first book (maybe read some cliff notes) and just wrote the movie afterwords.

  It wasn't what I hoped.

So, naturally, I wasn't pleased that they were going ahead with adapting the sequel. But, I was on Pintrest and saw a picture from the shooting. And, as the pinner put it (paraphrased): "ANNABETH IS BLONDE NOW! THEY'RE FIXING THEIR MISTAKES!" So, I looked at the Wikipedia page.

...And it looks to be true.

-First of all: THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE EVERYONE THEY FORGOT! Thalia, Kronos, Mr. D, Clarisse; they're all going to be there!
-Second: NATHAN. FILLION. IS PLAYING. HERMES! Nathan "Castle/Voice of Hal Jordan in some animated movies/other things" Fillion. That is going to be awesome. Seriously, they better not screw that up.

-And finally, Columbus isn't directing this time. Good, he had his chance, and he failed. This time, a man by the name of Thor Freudenthal (*resisting urge to make Thor jokes*) is in-charge of that. The only other things of his I've seen of his are Stuart Little (which was decent) and the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. The latter I thought was a pretty good adaption of the book (which surprised me for a Fox-distributed flick). so I have hope. (Then again, I had hope for Columbus, and look how that turned out...)

So, I'm actually kind of... excited for this, now. I love the books, and I want to see a good movie of them this time. I'm sure this will be better than its predecessor. If not; get my hopes up once, Fox, shame on you. Get them up twice, I will hunt you down Artemis style!

(Late) One-Year Anniversery

Two posts today? Yes, yes there are...

Ugh, in all my procrastination, I COMPLETELY forgot that August 5th was my blog's one year anniversary!

Yes, I've been blogging for about a year now, and I've really enjoyed it! I've enjoyed sharing my thoughts (and more) with you, and hope to continue doing so. And, to honor this anniversary, I feel like sharing some facts about my blog.

-I've gotten about 4,214 views of my blog since I started. The most views I've gotten in a month was in May 2012 (580)

-The top five most-viewed blog posts I've had so far:
  1. "Sora and Riku Get New Duds and More in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance" (278)
  2. "Proof of Darren Criss's Awesomeness" (107)
  3. "Infamous Movie Reviews: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" (93)
  4. "Avengers In Target" (77)
  5. "Hypothetical Casting: Sebastian Moran for Sherlock Series 3" (55)
-Apparently, most people find this blog on Google searching with "sora dream drop distance outfit"

-While most (more than half) of my views are from the US, the three top out-of-country are:
  1. Russia (That reminds me, I should check out the Russian Sherlock Holmes...)
  2. Germany (Hi, possible distant relatives!)
  3. The UK (In my heart, I am one of you, oh magical land where magical things originate...)
...But enough of that. I promise to have even more posts.

Some ones to expect are:

  • More of those Sherlock reviews
  • The inevitable Elementary review
  • A review of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
  • Just more Sherlock stuff in general
  • My thoughts on what I've heard about The Sea of Monsters movie
  • More mildly nerdy ramblings
  • ...And just, more!
So, thank you to all my followers and everyone who reads/has read this blog! You guys are awesome. :)

KH3D Trailer...IN ENGLISH!!!!

Yay! This month, North American, Australian, and European KH Fans get their editions of the highly-anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. (31st, 26th, and 20th, respectively). Anyway, I looked up the English trailer, and here it is!

I'm so excited. Though I can kind of see how English dubs change things. On one hand, I like how they changed the "Key to everyone's smiles" to something like "happiness", it's less "narmy". On the other hand, I liked Sorcerer!Mickey's original line about lending strength to Riku and Riku saying he'll be waiting as opposed to the English version about Mickey wanting to be part of a team and Riku saying he will. The old one... just gave me more the warm fuzzies than the new one. But, it could be worse. The dubbing could've been by... 4KIDS!!! *DUN DUN DUN*

But, I'm still excited. This is going to be AWESOME! Anyone else counting the 358/2 many days in anticipation?

Bear With Me, Guys...

Hey everyone. Sorry I've been quiet so long. You deserve an explanation. You see, I'm in the process of moving, so I am temporarily without computer. In fact, this very post is coming from an iPod Touch. Which, while good for MANY things, is very ineffective at keeping up blog posts compared to a computer. I do think iPod is alright for commenting, however. That, and the iffy Internet connection where I am. I promise, I'll only be gone a few more days. When everything's settled, I'll get right back to posting. In fact, here's some of the posts I have planned: -A little piece on why I might not be enjoying The Eleventh Doctor so far, unlike The Ninth and Tenth. -Maybe some more MSTs. -Some Reviews of The Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes movies and episodes of BBC's Sherlock. -More of my thoughts on Elementary whenever I see the new trailer. (YouTube doesn't work well from my location >:( ) -And you know how I said I was working on a Sherlock and Harry Potter Crossover fanfic? Well, when I get my computer back, I'll finish typing it up (I already wrote all of it, I'm just copying it to a word document so I can have a better corrections), copy it to Blogger, and post each chapter. I've even contemplated a joke trailer for it. I didn't djust change my mind about that/forget it, you know... ... So that's why I've been (and will be) gone a while. Not because I died and was revived. Not because I quit but realized I couldn't. Not because I was kidnapped and tortured by Critics United for openly disapproving of them on The Half World (I think I'll post my thoughts on THEM later, too...). I swear, in a few days, I'll be back, and you'll have my ramblings again. So, just bear with me, guys (*gasp* just like in the title!) So for now, I'll guess I'll talk to you later. And thanks for your patience... :)

KH3D Release Date: North America and Europe!

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. July 31st for North America, people. Seems far away, but it won't be long! (personally, I have Sherlock to keep me sane, so...) As for Europe, expect it to come out August 3rd! So, now begins the watching and waiting...

So, Minor KH3D News...

Well, to start, on the 29th, the game officially releases in Japan. This will make things a LITTLE harder to get news, as my sources (*cough*WikipediaandTVTropes*cough*) will most likely have spoilers... :( Oh well, there's still the page for it on Gamestop as far as the release date goes...

But, there IS some other news stuffs:

1. THE WORLD THAT NEVER WAS IS PLAYABLE! (Say it with me, Organization XIII fans, "whoo-hoo!")

and 2. It's been revealed David Gallagher will be voicing the "Mysterious Figure" from Birth By Sleep. You know, the bonus boss who's impossible to beat? I know I do. Come to think of it, he might be "Bright Eyes". And now Gallagher has fulfilled his "Voice two characters" obligation all the American voice actors for the game seem to have. (I'm not counting Repliku and Data-Riku, since they're pretty much Riku...)

So, that's all I got. What do you guys think? Got any news you've gathered? You know the drill!
