I Defend: Xion

Yes, I've decided to defend a fictional character. So there.

*Mild Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Spoilers Here*
In the Kingdom Hearts fandom, most of the original girl characters are pretty controversial. You know, some people like/love them, others dislike/hate them. Except Aqua. Aqua is pretty much awesome to everyone. We all pretty much agree on her (any dislikers are silent).

Anyway, Xion appears to get the worst of it. And I feel bad. I love Xion. I'm not "HOW DARE YOU DISLIKE XION! ROAR! IMMA KILL YOU, HATERZ!" I just feel like she doesn't deserve some of the hate she gets.

Before I go on, I just want to have a quick disclaimer. Everyone has the right to like/dislike a character. That's fine. I'm just against irrational hate and excessive hate.

1st reason I'm just going to get out of the way is "I hate you 'cuz you get in the way of my favorite pairing!" I think that's a stupid reason to hate someone/a character. Just because you perceive so-and-so as a threat to a potential relationship doesn't always mean you should hate them simply for that. I find that a tad immature.

2nd reason is that "She don't do much!" Okay, granted, we didn't see Xion do many BIG things in her time as Number XIV. She did beat that massive Darkside (though some many argue that Roxas weakened it). But we didn't get to see her non-Roxas missions, so how can some people accuse her of being useless? She has the same job as Roxas, ya know?

And we see signs of her improving mighty nicely. In her and Axel's first face-off, I felt she held him off rather well. Remember, Axel is an EXPERIENCED assassin. It would have been interesting to see how it'd have played out if Roxas hadn't spoken up.

And in their second showdown. Yes, we only saw the results, and I know Xion lost. But she also wore our favorite red-haired pyro down but good. I mean, he collapsed shortly afterward.

(I'd say skip to a certain point in the video, but I feel Quinton Flynn's (Axel) performance was particularly awesome in this cutscene, so it is worth seeing. Seriously, listen.)

Honestly, I don't think it's right to say she's weak when she's shown she's pretty capable.

That's all I can come up with now. But, if anyone has heard any other "Anti-Xion" arguments, let me know, and I'll try to address them. But for now, I leave you with this:

STARE INTO THE BIG EYES OF MANGA XION AND TRY AND THINK BAD THOUGHTS ABOUT HER!
I appologise if I have offended anyone.

Japan Has A Realease Date For KH 3D, English Website Up, And More!

Japan's release date for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is now officially March 29, 2012. Sadly, there is no official release date for North America or Europe yet.

But we got the official website up now! Whoo!

Yeah, they don't got much yet. All that's up right now is another trailer, in Japanese (but the localized trailer's coming soon). It's more or less Jump Fiesta Trailer: The Abridged Version, but there are some new additions worth a look.

Also, there's to be a Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Box coming out soon (in Japan, at least), that's to have all sorts of wonderfulness to commemorate the series' milestone. IT will contain KH 3D and the two traditional DS entries of the series (358/2 Days and Re:coded, (already got those, though)), 12 post cards with the cover art from the past games, and a protect cover. And there's a hardware bundle. Hmm... maybe I should hold out a little longer before I rush out and grab a 3DS, in case the US gets this offer...

Now, I leave you with this new screenshot, showing FANTASIA MICKEY!

*gasp* Could it be? The King, possibly dabbling in teh dark magikz? I dunno, but I can't wait for the English game just for an explanation...

My Opinion of Tim Burton Movies

Well, yesterday The Freak was a little under the weather, so she did what any sane sick person would do... watch Invader Zim and try and advance more through Final Fantasy X and the PS2 version of Sims 2. But, there was another thing I did. I watched Planet of the Apes (the Tim Burton version) and Corpse Bride. And, well, I wasn't blown away, to be honest. I preferred Rise of the Planet of the Apes to Planet of the Apes. Though I had these great bit of MSTings I did toward the end of Planet of the Apes:

(After Leo (the human guy played my Mark Wahlberg) kisses Ari (the ape played by Helena Bontham Carter)
The Freak: (sings) I kissed an ape, and I liked iiiittttt....
Then...
(Leo is kissed by Daena (the human chick played by Estella Warren (went to Wikipedia for the actress's name)))
The Freak: (as Leo) I preferred kissing the monkey... ape.

Anyways, Tim Burton movies are always hit and miss for me. Some of them I LOVE (Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and others are kind of "Eh, not great, but not bad (Alice in Wonderland (not what I was expecting), the two above). I mean, I don't HATE Burton movies, they're just not the be-all the end-all to me.

But I do LOVE Danny Elfman's songs for Tim Burton's movies. (Then again, I love almost ANY song by Danny Elfman) And I do admit I can't get "The Remains of the Day" from Corpse Bride out of my head. That song was pretty awesome.

So while I my debate the quality of Tim Burton's movies, I will always agree that Danny Elfman writes awesome music for them (ya know, in the movies he composes for).

A Theory Everyone's Overlooking....

I just remembered a fairly good theory I came up with that didn't make my ridiculous "RANDOM GUESSES 2" post. And I felt this one deserved a bit of back story.

So, in the new Avatar series, Legend of Korra, there are metalbender cops. And the chief of the metalbender cops is Chief Bei Fong (no first name given for her). She is Toph's daughter.

Now, there is a LOT of speculation surrounding Chief Bei Fong. Besides "Who's the daddy?", there's the whole "why does she have her mom's last name?"

Two of the theories I keep hearing are "Maybe Toph was a single mother" or "Maybe her possible husband took TOPH'S family name instead". There may also be a theory she kept hers, but I don't recall it.

But I think everyone's looking over the OBVIOUS answer....

Chief Bei Fong kept her Mom's last name as a sign of how bad to the bone she is.

Look into your feelings, you know it to be true...

Think about it. Toph is the greatest Earthbender in the world in the first series. After all, she invented Metalbending. Now, if you were the DAUGHTER of the greatest Earthbender in the world, wouldn't you want the world to know? Show that you are NOT to be messed with.

It would be a way of saying, "Hey! The blood of one of the undisputed greatest Earthbenders to ever live pumps through my veins! Do you really want to test your luck in a fight with me?"

Anyone agree with me? Anyone disagree with me? What are YOUR thoughts on the "Bei Fong Name Debate"?

RANDOM GUESSES 2!!!!!!

Yep, I have more WMGs. Just to recap: Wild Mass Guessing is something from TV Tropes that people post their guessings and theories for a work. They can be serious ("_____ is the traitor") or hilarious ("Perry the Platypus is Agent P" (true WMG)). So, like last time, Guess is in bold, explanation is regular guess.

Darren Criss Will Get To Cameo in Legend of Korra

I thought I read somewhere that Darren Criss was an Avatar fan. But seriously, it'd be awesome to have a character that resembles Darren singing in the background.

Or alternatively...

Criss Will Get A Role in A Disney movie and/or Kingdom Hearts

I know fo' sho' that he's a Disney fan. It would be SO FREAKING AWESOME if he was in a future Disney Animated movie. Especially a musical. Or in Kingdom Hearts, what with it being 50% Disney. And maybe, just to up the awesome of potential Darren-in-KH, he could get a scene with Jesse McCartney (who's pretty freakin' cool, surprisingly to my younger self, Lil' Freak) and Quinton Flynn (one of the undisputed awesomeset voice actors EVAH!)! I would die of the sheer greatness.

David Gallagher has a bit of a mancrush on Riku

Five words: "Riku is a sexy guy". That is all. Just... watch the first few minutes of this old interview. (It even has a musical remix, for those interested, on YouTube!)

----

Yeah, my guesses are a bit more meta and not a crazy as last time, the old ones were better. But still.

 EDIT: One more I remembered:

Riku is a Horcrux For Xehenort

I watched the last Harry Potter, and I think this works. Maybe when Riku was possessed part o' old Norty's soul broke off in our boy Riku. Plus, there's the whole "Xehenort rhymes with Voldemort" thing. Coincidence, I THINK NOT!!!!

There. I'm done.

KH3D NEWS, REVELATIONS, AND THEORIES I HAVE/SUPPORT!

Okay, ANOTHER world's been announced. The world is based on Fantasia. And we WILL see Sorcerer Mickey! And I here the boss is Firebird, not Chernabog, so halleluah! Chernabog took me for FREAKIN' ever to defeat!

Also, I realized something about the trailer. Lea and Ienzo are a little old for their scene to be a flashback to Pre-KHI... Yes, yes they are. So... obviously...

Lea.

Has.

Come back.

To life!

Oh heck yes! Feel sad that this means little Ienzo DID "die" as a kid. *sniff* Small children death is depressing....

BUT LEA IS BACK FOR GOOD! AW, YEAH, BABY!

I have a theory about Lea. That he IS IMMORTAL! Here's an example of my reasoning: He was meant to die when he fought Roxas at the end of the tutorial, but since the fans loved him (and I think the dev team did, too), he lived 'til nearly the end. And now he's back! So he was OBVIOUSLY on to something with that "live forever in everyone's memories" thing:

Also, I read this theory that I just ADORED. It was that Kairi will be training to use that there Keyblade o' hers, and Lea will at some point run into her (maybe even help train her) and it will be AWK-WAAAAAARRRRRRRDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!! I picture that going like this:

LEA: (pops into room with Kairi) HELLO!
KAIRI: (Freaks out and goes to attack Lea)
LEA: WHOA!
MICKEY MOUSE: (jumps between them) No, Kairi, this is a friend. This is Lea...
KAIRI: (stops) I know him. He kidnapped me!
LEA: Eh, I don't like to live in the past... Sorry 'bout that.

...Or something like that.

So, anyone here anything else about the game? Anyone excited about Lea?  Any theories you got? Let me know, ,people!

Review: The Slayer Chronicles: First Kill

So, I JUST finished reading the first book in The Slayer Chronicles by Heather Brewer, First Kill. And IT. WAS. AMAZING.

*Warning: Spoilers if you haven't read Ninth Grade Slays in The Chronicles of Vladamir Tod, because this is a Spin-Off*

So, this book is all about what Joss was up to before Ninth Grade Slays. He was training to become the Slayer we know and love. And trust me, you will LOVE him after reading this. I don't want to give anything away, but I really wanted to give good ol' Joss a hug and tell him it would all be okay. Plus, we get to learn more about Joss in general. What he likes, what his hobbies were, etc. And, we learn more about the Slayer Society in general.

It's really cool to look at things from Joss's perspective. And from a vampire slayer's perspective in general. This book is darker than the last series, but it is just as good as the last one, too. It is totally worth a read.

  I give it 5 out of 5.

Why Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows Needs An Award

Okay, so sooner or later, awards season will be upon us. Ya know, the Oscars, the Golden Globes, blah blah blah.... And there's one movie I feel needs to win, or at least get some nominations. Thor! Just kidding!  Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows!

Why? Well I'll tell ya why!

  1. The Story. It's just plain awesome. Even better than the first. And the ending is pretty cool, too. I won't give much away. But at first, you'll be like: "No, that's not how they're going to..." Then you'll be like, "Wait, they're going through with this?" Then at the end you'll probably be like "YAY!" And it leaves things open for a sequel. Let's just leave it at that.

    2. Robert Downey Jr. He knocks it out of the park again reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes. He won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical for the last one, so let's hope he goes two for two. And maybe get an Oscar nom. Please?

    3. The Music. After Danny Elfman, I think Hans Zimmer's probably one of my favorite movie music composers. And the soundtrack for this one shows why. It's pretty cool. It fits the movie so well. I think I might ACTUALLY get the soundtrack. Hopefully this year it gets something for the soundtrack. (I admit last time I pulled for Up, 'cause, you know, it was the only animated movie up for the nomination, and was a good movie, too, in it's own right).

  Here's a sample:

Anyway, hopefully it gets some awards, because seriously, this was an AWESOME movie. And I want to see nice things happen to it. It's getting a sequel, so come on!

That is all.

2012

So, it's 2012. Well, if we're all going to die this year (which I highly doubt. There's evidence out there against it, but does anyone listen? Noooooooo....) it would be an awesome year to end. Because...

  1. The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra comes out this year! (AND IT LOOKS AWESOME!)

2. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. That is all..

3. THE AVENGERS! THE AVENGERS! THE AVENGERS!

Yup, the world may possibly end (which I still have skepticism about). But hey, at least it'll end with watching Legend of Korra on the Internet while playing KH:3D before heading to the movies to get my fill of Hawkeye, Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr.'s combined awesomeness. I'm totally content with that.
